Guru’s Guide to the Galaxy

If you are looking to get started in Documentum or are preparing to take E20-120 exam (Documentum Content Management Foundations), I highly recommend Pawan Kumar‘s 2nd edition of “Documentum 6.5 Content Management Foundations“.

As part of full disclosure, I was a technical reviewer for this book; however, I am not financially compensated if you buy this book. I read the 1st edition of Pawan’s book and liked the organization as well as the examples included in the book. Pawan improves on the book by providing a single example (loan processing application) used throughout the book to showcase various Documentum features. While 1st edition only covered Documentum 5.3, this 2nd edition covers Documentum 6.5, which is part of the current E20-120 exam.

This edition also includes sections describing Light Weight SysObjects, Aspects, Documentum Composer, and Presets, which are ALL newer features that were introduced after 5.3. Pawan did a good job of including relevant screenshots and including relevant DQL statements throughout the book. All of this comes at a price though, the 2nd edition is 50% larger than 1st edition. Of course, if you buy the eBook, the number of pages is really not relevant.

P.S. – If you goto dm_cram website, there is an opportunity to win a copy of this book.
